Summer is almost over! But that doesn’t mean things are cooling down over March with plenty of sunsets and hot weather on offer across all of our beaches. With March also offering a little less wind in the evenings, now is the perfect time to head on down with family and friends to enjoy all that Cottesloe has to offer. The best part? Sculpture by the Sea is returning again in 2018. One of Perth’s largest free public events, attracting an estimated 250,000 visitors will feature more than 30 Australian and International artists showcasing their work on the sand across 18 packed days.
If you catch public transport to Cottesloe beach regularly, you’ll know that it can be difficult to make it from Cottesloe Train Station to the beach, with the walk being over 30 minutes. That’s why we’ve teamed up with the Town of Cottesloe to offer you the first ever free shuttle bus to take you and your family to Sculptures by the Sea in no time.

What is Sculptures by the sea?
Every March, Cottesloe beach is transformed into an open-air gallery for Sculptures by the Sea – one of the worlds largest and most iconic free, public outdoor exhibitions. Artists flock from all four corners of the globe to land in Western Australia and showcase their works to over 250,000 visitors. Set amongst the Norfolk Island pines and along the famous Cottesloe groyne, this year will see first-timers: Gjøde & Partnere Arkitekter – two prize-winning architects from Aarhus, Denmark take centre stage with Zhan Wang also on show.
Make sure you look out for a free-form floating metallic rock in the ocean which has been anchored to the seafloor. This spectacle has been designed by Zang Wang himself. Other special exhibits to check out are installations made up entirely of gumboots and the famous ‘seawall’ which has been in construction weeks before the opening night.
When is the free bus service running?
The free shuttle bus will be a daily service running from 10.30am to 6.00pm. The Commencement date is Friday 2 March and the service will conclude on Monday 19 March.
What route does it take to get from Cottesloe Train Station to the beach?
The route starts at Cottesloe Train Station and heads north on Curtin Ave to Napier St. Left onto Napier, right onto Broome St, left onto Eric St, Left onto Marine Pde and stops near the Ocean Beach Hotel. The bus then continues down Marine Pde and stops on Marine Pde at the corner of Forrest St before heading left onto Forrest St, right onto Broome St, left onto Jarrad St and back to the train station.

How often does the service run?
It’s a round trip which means that it depends on how many times the bus stops and starts to collect people. For the most part, a complete circuit takes about 15 minutes which means that will be about the most you’ll wait before getting picked up.
How can I get on?
Look out for the Horizons West Shuttle Bus and simply hail the bus at any point along the journey and our bus driver will pull over and pick you up. It’s as simple as that.
Is it free?
Absolutely! You can take your friends and family on board for free.
