  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Create and maintain a safe environment for all students on the bus.
    • Aid with vehicle access and egress for those students with mobility restrictions.
    • Ensure wheelchair restraints or student posture harness are appropriately secured (where applicable)
    • Ensure that seatbelts are appropriately secured for the duration of the journey.
    • Attend where necessary to the needs of individual students.
    • Demonstrate a positive, caring and supportive attitude to students always, including, where appropriate, engaging in conversation with students.
    • In liaison with the driver, manage student behaviour, safety and comfort.
    • Follow the instructions of the driver in the event of an accident or emergency.
    • At the terminus of every morning and afternoon run, ensure all students have disembarked.
    • Complete student attendance forms (SARs).
    • In line with the relevant company procedures, report all incidents and hazards using the Incident Report Form.
    • Attend all meetings and training as requested.
    • Follow all lawful duties as requested by the management team providing they’re within your capabilities.
    • Maintain a professional appearance when carrying out your duties as a bus aide.
    • Conduct yourself in a professional and courteous manner to students, drivers, school staff, and parents/carers.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    As a Bus Aides you must hold, keep current, and present upon request, by either the Public Transport Authority or Department of Education, the following licenses, permits and certifications:

    • A Working with Children clearance card.
    • A Senior First Aid Certificate from St John Ambulance Australia or an equivalent approved course.
  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Carry out bus charters services in a safe and timely manner, as directed by the Operations Department
    • Present to work at nominated shift start times as noted on your Daily Work Roster
    • Perform daily, vehicle pre-start inspections
    • Be conversant with your Daily Work Roster, familiarise yourself with pickup and drop off locations and carry out effective route planning
    • Communicate any delays or potential delays to charter services via the Drivers’ Line
    • Comply with the Company’s traffic management plan and designated bus park locations
    • Refuel vehicles using designated fuelling facilities and per the company’s fuel schedule
    • Internal and external bus cleaning duties as required
    • Log vehicle defects via the driver terminals as required
    • Complete and submit lost property records as required
    • Complete student attendance forms (SARs) when required
    • Maintain professional and courteous communication with customers at all times
    • Maintain professional dress standards in line with the Company’s Uniform Policy

    OHS REPORTING & ADMINISTRATION

    • Provide written notice of all issues affecting your availability for work
    • Report all injuries, incidents, and hazards as per the company’s incident reporting procedure
    • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when in the depot/s
    • Attend all toolbox meetings as requested
    • Participate in all training and development programs as required
    • Adhere to safe systems of work in accordance with Company policies and procedures
    • Follow all lawful duties as requested by the management providing they are within your capabilities

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    As a driver you must hold, keep current, and present upon request, by either the Public Transport Authority or any other authority, the following licenses, permits and certifications:

    • A Working with Children clearance card
    • Drivers licence with F Endorsement or PTD Authorisation
  • JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The position includes, but is not limited to the following tasks & responsibilities;

    • Perform routine A, B and C services on all vehicle types
    • Carry out Road Safety Inspections on vehicles as required
    • Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults/defects
    • Assist other workshop personnel & technicians in the diagnosis of vehicle faults/defects
    • Coordinate breakdown repairs and recoveries as required
    • Disassembly and removal of engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components
    • Engine rebuilds and fitments
    • Carry out weekly fleet inspections as required
    • With assistance from the Workshop Manager, liaise with contractors & suppliers to ensure cost-effective provision of external labour & parts
    • Communicate with the Operations Department to ascertain availability of vehicles requiring service or repair and/or to notify of vehicles out of service
    • Ensure all maintenance or repair work completed is entered in the relevant operating system to enable accurate maintenance tracking
    • Provide guidance and instruction to apprentice technicians
    • Promote & enforce safe work practices & adherence to relevant company policies & procedures

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

    To be considered, applicants will have;

    • Minimum 3 years experience as a qualified heavy-duty diesel mechanic
    • Dual-trade technicians highly regarded
    • Experience using diagnostics software highly regarded
    • Experience working with buses & coaches preferable
    • The ability to work autonomously & as part of a team
    • The ability to effectively prioritise tasks
    • Experience mentoring/training less experienced or apprenticed technicians
    • HR Licence or greater
    • Proficient communication skills
