The Role
KEEP THE FLEET ON THE ROAD
Join an experienced team in our Welshpool workshop and help keep our fleet of 150+ buses on the road, from routine servicing to engine rebuilds.
The workshop is on site at Welshpool, so the vehicles you service are the ones you see leave the yard each morning. You'll work across the whole fleet rather than one model line.
We've been maintaining our own buses since 1987, and you'll learn from the people beside you.

Day to Day
WHAT THE JOB INVOLVES
- Perform routine A, B, and C services on all vehicle types
- Carry out Road Safety Inspections as required
- Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults and defects
- Engine rebuilds, disassembly, and component replacement
- Carry out weekly fleet inspections
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers for parts and external labour
- Provide guidance and instruction to apprentice technicians
Before You Start
WHAT WE NEED TO SEE
Two requirements are firm: the trade qualification with three years behind it, and an HR licence or greater. The rest are preferences that strengthen an application without deciding it.
Have your trade papers and licence handy when you apply — it saves a round of back and forth.
HD Mechanic Requirements
- Minimum 3 years as a qualified heavy-duty diesel mechanic (required)
- HR licence or greater (required)
- Experience with buses and coaches (preferred)
- Dual-trade technicians highly regarded (preferred)
- Experience using diagnostics software (preferred)
