Hiring Process

THE NEXT THREE STEPS

1

We Review Your Application

Our team reads every application that comes in. Expect to hear from us within a few business days.

2

We Give You a Call

A short phone chat about your clearances, your availability, and the routes we're crewing. No test, no pressure.

3

You Ride a Route With Us

A trial shift from the Welshpool depot so you can meet the drivers and see the work. Most candidates go from application to offer within two weeks.

Prerequisites

WHAT YOU'LL NEED, AND WHERE TO GET IT

Both items below have to be in place before your first shift. Neither one needs any bus industry background, and you can hold them before you ever set foot in the depot.

Working with Children Check

Required before your first shift

Bus aides work directly with students, so a current Working with Children clearance card is a condition of the role. It's a criminal record check with ongoing monitoring, and the Department of Communities sets the fee, the processing time, and how long a card stays valid.

Where to get it

Apply through the WA Department of Communities. Their Working with Children Check page sets out who needs one, the identity documents to bring, the current fee, and how to lodge an application.

Senior First Aid Certificate

Required before your first shift

You're the person in the cabin when something happens — a seizure, an asthma attack, a fall on the steps. A current senior first aid certificate means you can act without waiting, and it's why the certificate is a requirement rather than a preference.

Where to get it

St John Ambulance WA runs first aid training across Perth, and their site lists courses, locations, and dates. An equivalent certificate from another registered training provider is fine too. If yours has lapsed, a refresher is usually shorter than the full course.

Getting It to Us

HOW TO SEND YOUR DOCUMENTS

Bring the originals to your trial shift, or call us on (08) 9351 8980 and we'll tell you the easiest way to get copies across.

If a clearance is still being processed, that's fine — let us know where it's at so we can plan your start around it.
